The experience
Stay in the Empty Quarter after the day visitors leave, giving sunset, the camp evening and the following morning their own place in your desert journey.
On the outward day, travel north by 4WD through Dhofar, with Wadi Dawkah’s frankincense trees and the Shisr / Ubar caravan site on the planned heritage route. Continue towards Rub Al Khali for sand driving and dune photo stops before the evening light fades. These stops connect the landscape to the region’s trading history while leaving the late afternoon for the dunes.
After sunset, settle into the overnight location arranged for your booking. The experience is a desert camp stay, but the tent or room type, bedding, bathroom facilities and dinner package must be specified in your quote. When skies are clear, the evening offers time to look at the stars without a promised telescope or guided astronomy session. The next morning brings another chance to see the dunes in softer light before the return drive. Sunrise viewing and breakfast follow the camp’s agreed schedule, and the hotel return takes place on day two.

Day 1 · depart from Salalah
Meet your guide and begin the northbound 4WD journey with a small overnight bag.
Day 1 · Wadi Dawkah and Shisr
Visit the frankincense landscape and caravan-site setting on the agreed route. Site entry fees must be specified in your quote.
Day 1 · dunes and sunset
Travel into the dunes for the planned sand-driving section and stop to watch the evening light.
Night 1 · desert camp
Reach your confirmed overnight location. Settle into the specified accommodation and follow the dinner arrangements in your camp package.
Day 2 · morning in the desert
Enjoy the early light before camp departure. Any organised sunrise outing and breakfast are included only as stated in your quote.
Day 2 · return to Salalah
Travel back to your agreed hotel on the second day, at the return time confirmed for your camp and pickup location.
