The experience
Spend an evening at a local family’s table, where the meal is a way to meet your hosts and hear about life in Oman.
After the arrival arranged for your booking, settle into the home setting and follow your hosts’ lead. There is time to talk about family traditions, ingredients and daily routines while the dinner is served. The value of the experience is the conversation as much as the food: it gives a personal perspective that a restaurant tasting or sightseeing drive cannot offer.
The menu depends on the host and date. Rice, meat dishes, bread, coffee and sweets are familiar parts of Omani hospitality, but no particular dish is promised until it is included in your confirmed menu. Ask about seating, meal length and the language spoken before accepting. Dietary requests need to be discussed in advance, and photographs inside the home or of family members should always follow the hosts’ permission. Transport is included only if stated in the booking.
