Begin with the waterfalls area at Wadi El Rayan, where the water scene contrasts with the surrounding dry landscape. Flow and access vary, and the visit does not promise swimming or a particular photographic view. Continue in the suitable desert vehicle arranged for the route towards Wadi Hitan, also called Whale Valley.
On the permitted trail, fossil remains help explain the evolution of early whales and the environment preserved in the rock. Your guide puts the displays in context while you remain on marked paths and leave fossils undisturbed. This is an interpretation visit, not fossil collecting or excavation participation. Allow around ten to twelve hours including Cairo travel, desert driving, the trail and an agreed meal break.
