The experience
Trade Cairo’s streets for Alexandria’s Mediterranean setting on a day trip built around the Catacombs and the old harbour waterfront.
An early start leaves time for the road journey before descending into Kom El Shoqafa’s burial chambers. The site’s carved decoration combines Egyptian, Greek and Roman traditions, giving the visit a distinctive character. Stairs and enclosed spaces are part of the experience; tell the guide if a gentler alternative is needed.
Continue to the Corniche and the Qaitbay area, where the fortress and sea bring the ancient harbour story into the landscape. Citadel interior entry is included only when stated in your admission package. Pause for the standard lunch described in the plan before the return journey. This approximately ten-to-eleven-hour outing is not the same as an Alexandria city departure: road travel takes a large part of the day, and adding the library, Roman Theatre or Montaza requires an explicitly revised route.
