The experience
Spend a full day in ancient Thebes, travelling from Aswan to Luxor for royal tombs, the west-bank temples and the monumental sanctuaries across the river.
Start early for the road journey and begin the west-bank circuit at the Valley of the Kings. Visit the regular tomb selection available under the standard ticket; opening can change, and Tutankhamun or other separately ticketed tombs are extras. Continue to Hatshepsut’s terraced temple at Deir El Bahari and pause at the Colossi of Memnon before the lunch arranged in your program.
On the east bank, Karnak’s columns and courts reveal a temple complex built and extended over many reigns, while Luxor Temple gives a more contained final visit in the city. This is an ambitious highlights circuit rather than an exhaustive exploration of every site. Allow about thirteen to fourteen hours including the return to Aswan, and discuss a reduced route if the walking or total road time would be too demanding. Hot-air ballooning and overnight accommodation are not part of this day trip.
