The experience
Make the desert road journey from Aswan to Abu Simbel for two monumental temples above Lake Nasser, with private transport and a local guided visit.
An early collection gives the long southbound drive its place in the day. At the Great Temple, four seated figures of Ramses II dominate the façade before the interior route leads through halls and carved scenes towards the sanctuary. Nearby, the Small Temple honours Hathor and Nefertari, with royal figures across its rock-cut front. Your guide connects the decoration to the rulers and explains the relocation that rescued the temples from the reservoir waters.
Allow around nine hours for the complete outing, including the substantial drive in both directions. The proposal includes a local temple guide; a guide accompanying the whole road journey is a separate request. Lunch is not included in the standard outline. This is the ordinary daytime road option, distinct from the flight package and the special Sun Festival departure, which has different timing, crowds and admission arrangements.
