Follow the Nile corridor south from Luxor for two contrasting temple visits: the enclosed, remarkably complete sanctuary of Horus at Edfu and the riverside double temple at Kom Ombo.
At Edfu, the massive entrance leads into a courtyard and progressively more enclosed columned spaces. Falcon imagery and the temple’s surviving plan help your guide explain the worship of Horus. Continue south to Kom Ombo, where two parallel sacred routes served Sobek and Horus the Elder. Comparing the paired sanctuaries with Edfu’s single main axis gives the day a clear architectural theme, alongside the changing Nile Valley scenery during the road journey.
